Opioids vs. Cannabis

Opioid abuse is now the leading cause of accidental deaths among Americans, even more than  car deaths (#2) and gun deaths (#3).

We know that in states that legalized medical cannabis the opioid overdoses decreased by 25%.  In that same article, it discusses Jeff Session's astonishment that the opioid crisis could be solved with medical cannabis because he mentioned that it's ludicrous to think that trading one harmful and addictive drug for another that is only slightly less dangerous is not a good solution. He may not realize that it is physiologically impossible to fatally overdose on cannabis? That’s right, there is no physiological way that you can fatally overdose on weed.  Because cannabinoid receptors, unlike opioid receptors, are not located in the brainstem areas controlling respiration, lethal overdoses from Cannabis and cannabinoids do not occur.”
